After the treetop walk I visited Walpole calling in at the visitor centre before doing a few different walks and drives in the area. First walk was directly behind the visitor centre, a 2km walk around over a swamp and then through some forest.

Walpole is a beautiful little town about 50kms west of Denmark in the south west of W.A.. Driving from Denmark to Walpole you drive past the Valley of the Giants, tree top walk. It’s actually in the shire of Denmark, though it’s about 40km out of town and a lot closer to Walpole, but it’s the “tourist” thing to do when you’re in the south west and you want to see the big trees.

We’ve all seen it before, the sign on the side of the road inviting you to come and buy some locally grown produce. Often in a days driving you’ll pass by signs offering a huge range of products, driving from where I am in Denmark across to Albany a distance of just over 50km I passed roadside stalls selling vegetables, assorted fruits, jams and preserves, eggs, honey, fresh flowers and olive oil.
Beautiful fishing spot
Part of my plan while living in the motor home was to supplement my food supplies with freshly caught fish, it’s taken me a month to get my act together and actually go fishing, but what a beautiful place it was to fish.
This is the east end of Mazzoletti’s beach and I’ve been coming to this spot to fish for probably 30 years or more with mixed results in the fishing stakes, but it’s always a pleasant place to be.
So long term plans were that I wanted to head to Tasmania to have a look around. Tasmania, the land of beautiful forests and waterways, cheap property and “old school” values and sense of community. Also notably I guess more recently, voted the top bogan state in Australia.
She was a good looking coaster bus, in a rugged sort of way.
After much searching around for vehicles I decided to go for Tru Blue a 1993 long wheel base Toyota coaster lovingly set up by an elderly couple who had owned her for about 10 years. One of the main aspect that attracted me to this vehicle was the quality of fit-out and the solar set up.
